From May to October is the favourite time for hikers. Hikes from Rottweil, for example through the Eschachtal valley, are inspiring for nature lovers. The river Eschach is the first eastern tributary of the Neckar. You will discover unique biotopes and rare animals and plants – far away from mass tourism. If you follow the course of the river, you will discover a romantic hilly landscape, wide meadows and natural forests.
Starting point is the Tourist-Information Rottweil, Hauptstraße 21 (pedestrian zone).
From Hotel Bären it will take you 10 minutes to the tourist information in the pedestrian zone. Just walk up the pedestrian zone and pass the “Schwarze Tor”. Then turn left into Schramberger Straße. Follow the sign “Rotes Kreuz”.
It goes through the Hausener Straße – Scherer´s Kapelle – Charlottenwäldle – Hospach – Hausen o.R. – Hofgut Oberrotenstein – former Burg Rotenstein – Wildensteinbrücke. Here the path marking changes: pointing “Rote Gabel” in the direction of Rottweil.
Follow the Eschach downhill past the farm estate Unterrotenstein and the Eckhof with traditional sheep farming. Now you go up the slope and at half height turn right into the Hangweg.
In Rottweil – Bühlingen – you walk through the Mittelstadt past the telecommunications office, over the Damm- and Königstraße to the Hochbrückorstraße. Turn left at the main intersection into the pedestrian zone Rottweil – and then back to Hotel Bären Rottweil to take some rest.
