This beautiful circular hiking trail starts directly at the Hotel Bären in Rottweil. In about 15 minutes you will reach the “Rote Steig”. The Rote Steig is a wooded area on an elevation between the Neckar River and the southwestern Swabian Alb. The ravines and slopes are covered with varied forest, which is ideal for nature lovers looking for recreation.
The first destination is the village of Wellendingen. Even Goethe stayed at the Gasthof Adler during his travels to Italy. From Hotel Bären Rottweil it is about 7 km to the town hall in Wellendingen (a former castle).
From here you continue to Wilflingen (4 km), which is located at the foot of the Lemberg. You climb the Lemberg, and after about 3 km you pass the Albvereinshütte.
The hiking distance is about 15 km. But be careful: there are about 600 meters of altitude to master. A good physical condition is important.
Because the hotel lies on 570 m.NN and the Lemberg on 1.015 m.NN.
The Lemberg is the highest mountain of the Swabian Alb and has a 33 m high tower. This can be visited and from there you have a magnificent 360 degree view. With a good distant view into the Black Forest, the Lechtal Alps and of course to the Rottweiler test tower. This is also one of the most beautiful tours for mountain bikers.
Hikers can also use public transport from Wilflingen for the way back. There are regular buses to Rottweil
